Figuring out how much it costs to take the ferry from Vancouver to Victoria can be a puzzling task, stuffed behind cluttered menus and strange layouts. BCFerries offers a fare calculator, but trying to get an estimate from the site could be confusing. So, today I’m going to help you understand the fare cost from Vancouver to Victoria.
Remember, prices can change, and information here may not be exactly the same as at the port. Treat this as an estimate, not an exact calculation.

Anyone aged 12-64 can ride for 18.70 CAD (13.65 USD) while children aged 5-11 can ride for 9.35 CAD (6.82 USD). Children under 4 ride for free, and the same goes for seniors 65 and over between Monday and Thursday with valid British Columbia IDs.
Discounts are available for students traveling for school events with a letter and ID from the school, and for people with a Ferries Accessibility Fare Identification card and attendant. The British Columbia Ferry service offers accessibility requirements but asks that passengers arrive up to one hour early.
Large luggage, like bikes, canoes, heavy bags, or dangerous items (pressurized air tanks) do not cost anything but must be logged in advance.
If trying to board with a vehicle, reservation rates can run between 64.45 CAD (47.03 USD) or 81.35 CAD (59.36 USD) for a standard vehicle under 2.13 meters (7 feet) in height and under 6.10 meters (20 feet) in length. Prices can increase for a vehicle over these limits, in which case you should check with the fare calculator at BCFerries. These prices will be added to the passenger price.

Why Take the Ferry From Vancouver to Victoria
Vancouver is a gorgeous metropolitan city with fantastic walkable streets, gorgeous nature accessible all around, and well-connected on the waterfront. Immigration and travel have brought a lot of good business and even better food to Vancouver, and if you come for nature, there are some massive parks just across the pond.
The ride will take about an hour or an hour and a half. For those who haven’t ridden on a ferry, it’s a unique experience and not one to pass up. This ride is a little on the short side, but the view of both sides as you cross from Vancouver to Victoria is something that I love thinking about.
Victoria is a city historically significant to western Canada and one well worth visiting if you get the chance. The city has some beautiful historical architecture and urbanite design that helps the city stay with the times. It’s quite small, too, so it will be very easy to get where you want after a ferry ride.
Enjoy Your Trip To Victoria
The ferry from Vancouver to Victoria is massively satisfying, the trip was one of my favorites during my brief stints in British Columbia and I’m sure it could be yours too. Getting experience on the sea can always be new and exciting, it isn’t somewhere most of us get to go all that often, and it can certainly add a lot to the trip. Still, one thing to suggest is that you try to make the most of your time in Victoria. Going regularly can get a little too pricy, so don’t let yourself get too hooked on the sea waves.
